I listed my concerns with North Carolina after watching the Tar Heels in the season-opener.
1. Point-guard play
2. Perimeter shooting
3. Lack of a go-to guy
Let's add another.
4. Toughness.
The Tar Heels were basically punked by a finesse Virginia team in Chapel Hill. They were never really in the game in the final 15 minutes and wound up losing by 15 on their home floor.
Now, Roy Williams team sits on the wrong side of the proverbial bubble as North Carolina is 13-8 overall and in 10th in the ACC with a 2-4 record.
Could the Tar Heels turn it around and get back into the NCAA tournament equation? Sure.
But Williams is clearly frustrated.
He said while in the past he's stuck with one offensively philosophy, he's tried three of four different offenses this season without much success.
"I'm at my wits end," he said on Monday.
Williams admitted that in his 21 years of coaching, most of the buttons he's pushed have worked.
"The same things this year haven't worked," he said.
Williams always wants to run, but he doesn't have the floor leader to play that style. Larry Drew II is a solid backup, but once again, he's not capable of taking this team – a young one that doesn't feature a guy who can get a bucket with the game on the line – deep into the NCAA tournament.
In fact, as of right now, Drew may not even be capable of taking the Tar Heels into the NCAA tournament at all.
North Carolina has lost four of its last five overall and five of its last seven.

Jeff, for once I agree with everything on your list. This club does have talent, but lacks the things you list above. I do think they will be good next year with Reggie Bullock# 2 SG and H.Barnes #1 SF. All underclassman including Davis need to stay, or be prepared to sit the bench in the pros. Passing is another area that I am surprised at. They throw the ball hard to another player when he is two feet away. The idea just like football, is to make it catchable.
