In one of the worst-kept secrets the recruiting world has seen in a while, Kyrie Irving committed to Duke tonight.
Adam Zagoria broke the news a couple nights ago, and then Irving refuted the report via Twitter.
Irving, who has done multiple video chats with fans, didn't want anyone to steal his thunder, as he was set to make his announcement on national television.
Anyway, the larger story in all of this is the Blue Devils landing the first piece of what could bring them back to where they could compete for national titles again.
Irving is the athletic, natural point guard (he's Scout.com's No. 2 floor leader in the senior class) they have been searching for lately. Greg Paulus didn't live up to the hype, and now Duke will be forced to go with Jon Scheyer – who is a shooting guard – to run the team this season.
With a future backcourt of Irving and athletic shooter Andre Dawkins, along with skilled freshmen forwards Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly up front, Duke is one piece away.
Harrison Barnes.
According to multiple sources, the nation's top-ranked player has Duke and North Carolina as his co-leaders with Kansas, Oklahoma, UCLA and Iowa State also in the mix.
