LAWRENCE, Kan. – The crowd has begun to file into Allen Fieldhouse for Midnight Madness.
Kansas coach Bill Self told me earlier that Brady Morningstar, who was charged with driving while intoxicated on Oct. 3, will be introduced but will not participate in the Midnight Madness festivities.
Tyshawn Taylor, who suffered a dislocated right thumb that required surgery in the well-publicized fight with members of the Kansas football team, said he will participate in the event on a somewhat limited basis.
Taylor's thumb didn't look pretty.
"I feel good," Taylor said. "My shot is like I never left. I don't even think about it when I play."
Taylor played for the second time on Friday afternoon in a pickup game with recruits Josh Selby, Royce Wooldridge and Josiah Turner.
Top-ranked Harrison Barnes and Doron Lamb didn't play. Barnes, who has been doing two-a-day workouts and worked out on Friday, said he sat out the game because his "body told him to."
Barnes still has two official visits left on the board with Duke and UCLA in the next two weeks.
Selby's visit was unofficial, and the athletic point guard didn't look out of place going up against guys like Sherron Collins and freshman Elijah Johnson.
Kansas look real good last night, I know it was against a nobody, but still not bad. I really think Collins and Aldridge will end up being on the final All-American team. Who is going to challenge Aldridge on the inside in the Big XII? We'll have to see. Can't wait for the season to get in full stride.
