It's truly gone downhill for Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben ever since someone put him at No. 1 in the country back when he was a freshman in high school.
Mayben has bounced around. He didn't qualify to play at Syracuse, didn't make at UMass, went to Hudson Valley Community College and spent last season at Binghamton.
Mayben, who set the school's single-season assists record last season while averaging 11.5 points and 4.7 assists, was charged with possessing and selling cocaine on Wednesday night in his hometown of Troy.
MILLER SCHOOL ATTRACTING PLENTY OF COACHES
Miller School's (Va.) Scott Willard coached former UCLA forward Alfred Aboya when he was at the Tilton School a few years back.
Now Willard has another Cameroon native in 6-foot-8, 230-pound senior Hippolyte Tsafack.
"He's the real deal," Willard said. "He has great work ethic, a great pair of hands and can shoot it a bit."
It's no wonder that Memphis coach Josh Pastner has been to see Tsafack a couple times already in the fall, Virginia coach Tony Bennett has made the short trek to stop by and assistants from UCLA, West Virginia and Western Kentucky have also made the trip.
The Miller School also has Mychal Parker, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward who committed to Maryland about a month ago and 6-foot-8, 195-pound Bruce Kofane, who also hails from Cameroon and is receiving interest from Boston College, La Salle, Rhode Island and Harvard. Willard said that Kofane visited Harvard last week.
RANDOM NOTES: Senior big man Luis Colon suffered a broken left hand in a workout and will miss 4-6 weeks. Colon averaged 4.4 points and 4.7 rebounds last season while starting all 34 games. ... Wake Forest received a commitment from big man Carson Desrosiers, who also considered Arizona State and Marquette.
Just remember that his current basketball whore or some other college basketball whore, oh I mean coach, will give Tiki Mayben his 5th chance.
