Akron – The Zips will play in the Glen Wilkes Classic down in Florida from Nov. 19-22 and also have non-conference games at Texas A&M and at home against Rhode Island. Head coach Keith Dambrot also lost assistant Jeff Boals to Ohio State. Dan Peters was brought in as the director of basketball operations and Rick McFadden was promoted from DBO to an assistant coach.
Ball State – The Cardinals will play non-conference road games at Purdue and Dayton and home contests against Butler and Valparaiso. Eric Wormley transferred out of the program.
Bowling Green – Assistant coach George Jackson left for Cincinnati and the Falcons had Adrion Graves transfer to Cumberlands College. Non-conference games include at Xavier, Fordham, Towson, Temple and Canisius.
Buffalo – Not a don going on with the Bulls – who still haven’t completed their schedule. Former Northern Arizona guard Zach Filzen will be eligible this season.
Central Michigan – Assistant William Eddie Jr. left the staff and Terrance Chatman was promoted. The Chippewas will play non-conference games at Purdue and South Florida. Four players – Jeremy Allen, Lawrence Bridges, William Eddie and Adrian Hunter – transferred out of the program.
Eastern Michigan – The Eagles will play in the Hall of Fame Classic at Missouri State from Nov. 20-22 along with host Missouri State, Maryland Eastern-Shore and one other team. The Eagles, who will also play at Ohio State on Dec. 5 in a non-conference game, had Danny Barnes (Kaskaskia JC) transfer out of the program.
Kent State – The Golden Flashes will host the Hispanic College Fund Classic from Nov. 13 with UAB, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Samford. Geno Ford’s team will also play in the Cable Car Classic at Santa Clara along with Northeastern and Wofford. Kent State will take a trip to Italy from Aug. 20-30 and also have non-conference games against Pittsburgh and Xavier.
Miami (Ohio) – The Redhawks will play in the World Vision Basketball Classic at New Mexico along with the host Lobos, Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State. Charlie Coles, who received a three-year extension, will also have a non-conference schedule that includes rod games against Kentucky, Xavier, Cincinnati and Colorado and home contests against Temple and Dayton.
Northern Illinois – Assistant Dennis Gates left for Nevada and was replaced by Todd Townsend. Director of operations Scott Stevens has also left and no replacement has been named as of yet. The Huskies will play non-conference games at Illinois (Nov. 17), at Minnesota (Dec. 15) and at home against Bradley (Dec. 2) and Temple (Dec. 30).
Ohio – Jamaal Walker left to become the director of operations at Arizona and was replaced by former DePaul assistant Ramon Williams. Two players left the Bobcats program – Frankie Dobbs (Bryant) and Stacey Waters (Wayne State) – while head coach John Groce and his staff added former Providence forward Alex Kellogg via the transfer route. Non-conference games include at Pittsburgh, at home against Illinois State and against IUPUI in Indianapolis.
Toledo – The Rockets will play in the Legends Classic in a pod at Michigan State and also have a non-conference game at Cincinnati. Two players transferred out – Terrence Tubbs and Clayton Sterling.
Western Michigan – Andy Hipsher left and was replaced by Clayton Bates – who returns to the staff after a one-year hiatus. The Broncos will play in the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii in December and also have non-conference games at home against VCU (Nov. 18), Holy Cross (Nov. 28) and Temple (Dec. 1) and on the road against Detroit (Nov. 15) and Illinois (Dec. 13). Juston Hairston (Park University) and LaMarcus Lowe both left the program.
