Derrick Rose and Robert Dozier weren't the only ones on Memphis in the past two years to have questionable test scores back in high school.
People forget that Tigers guard Doneal Mack wasn't allowed into Florida after his test score was flagged.
According to sources close to the situation, here's what happened with Mack.
While at Statesville Christian (N.C.), he took the ACT for the first time and received a score that was on a verge of qualifying. He took it again, the score jumped significantly and it was flagged.
Florida, where he was committed to at the time, said he had to take it a third time in order to be admitted. His third score was slightly higher than the first one, but was still thrown out because it wasn't high enough.
Florida deemed him inadmissible and he wound up qualifying to play at Memphis - where his third test score was admissible.
That means that three of the top six scorers from John Calipari's team last season have question marks with their test scores.
GIBSON STILL ON FENCE
Taj Gibson hasn't made up his mind.
On the surface, it doesn't appear that the USC big man would have much to return to school for. DeMar DeRozan and Daniel Hackett have already decided to leave early for the NBA and signee Noel Johnson was let out of his letter-of-intent following the NCAA's investigation into Trojans coach Tim Floyd.
But Gibson told FOXSports.com that he hasn't made a decision whether to remain in the NBA Draft just yet.
``Right now, I'm giving 100 percent and enjoying the process," Gibson said. ``But I'm still up in the air. I need to talk with my family and Coach Floyd. I haven't made my decision. It's real close."
Gibson is in Chicago today for the third time. He worked out for the Bulls, then returned for the combine and was asked back to Chicago by the Bulls.
He has also worked out for Miami, Indiana and been a part of the mass workouts in Golden State and Minnesota in which there were numerous NBA teams in attendance.
``I don't think a lot of teams knew I was so long," said Gibson, who measured at 6-foot-10 and with a 7-foot-6 wingspan. ``I also don't think they realized I could dribble and shoot like I can."
If Gibson does return (he still has workouts for Charlotte, New Orleans and Atlanta scheduled prior to the June 15 withdrawal date), he'd finally have an opportunity to be showcased in college after spending his first three seasons in the shadows of Nick Young, Gabe Pruitt, O.J, Mayo, Davon Jefferson and most recently, Hackett and DeRozan.
The Trojans could still be competitive for a postseason spot if Gibson returns. Dwight Lewis, Leonard Washington and Marcus Simmons are all back - but the question is at point guard where it appears as though Lamont "MoMo" Jones will receive extensive time running the team.
