I'm not real excited today since I'm headed to the accountant in a few hours and I'm guessing it's not going to be all that pretty. Anyway, here's plenty of stuff for those of you still thirsting for college hoops news, including about 20 or so more names down at the bottom to add to the transfer list:
Josh Pastner had no idea what was coming.
In fact, he was packing up his belongings in his office a week ago, hadn't shaven and was wearing sweatpants. That's when he got a call from Memphis athletic director R.C. Johnson, asking Pastner to come to his house.
"I didn't know what he wanted," Pastner said.
The next thing he knew, the Memphis job was on the table.
"You couldn't believe it if I told you," Pastner said. "The job I thought I might back into was Arizona. The Memphis job never, ever came up."
Timing is everything.
A year ago, Pastner was contemplating a few job opportunities while still debating on whether to leave Arizona.
New Marquette coach Buzz Williams wanted him. So did Kentucky's Billy Gillispie. At the end, Pastner chose to go to Memphis and work with John Calipari.
Now, a year later, he's succeeding Calipari.
"I was in shock because it all happened so fast," said the 31-year-old Pastner.
Part of what has gotten Pastner to this point is his work ethic. He basically didn't sleep in the last couple days after getting the head job at Memphis - and he still hasn't hired anyone on his new staff yet.
NO COUNTER-OFFER FROM XAVIER
Despite reports to the contrary, sources close to the situation told FOXSports.com there was never any counter-offer to Sean Miller in an effort to get him to remain at Xavier.
Remember, Xavier is a small school with a limited budget, and athletic director Mike Bobinski realized he could do little to compete with Arizona's offer of more than $2 million per season.
Miller signed a long-term deal with Xavier a year ago for about $800,000 per season and actually turned down the initial Arizona offer because of his relationship with Bobinski, the players and the school.
MACK REMAINS THE FRONT-RUNNER
According to a source, Xavier associate head coach Chris Mack remains the front-runner to succeed Miller.
EBANKS, TERRICO STAYING IN SCHOOL
Two players who won't be putting their names in the NBA Draft are West Virginia's Devin Ebanks and Mississippi's Terrico White.
Ebanks and White - two of the top freshmen in the country this season - both told FOXSports.com that they will be returning to school next season.
The 6-foot-8 Ebanks averaged 10.5 points and 7.8 rebounds this season and his return will be key for the Mountaineers, who have a chance to finish near the top of the Big East next season.
White's return is just as important for an Ole Miss team ravaged by injuries this season. The 6-foot-5 freshman guard out of Memphis averaged 13.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season and, if the Rebels can remain healthy next season, they have a chance at doing some damage in the SEC.
