The names keep getting tossed around. Tom Izzo, Rick Barnes,
Jay Wright and even Thad Matta.
None of them have any interest in replacing Billy Gillispie at Kentucky,
according to numerous industry sources.
Barnes and Wright declined last time around and will do the same again this
time. Izzo isn't leaving East Lansing and Matta has one of the top classes in
the country coming in 2010.
But one guy, according to sources, who has interest is Memphis coach John
Calipari.
In fact, there is a chance that Calipari and Kentucky athletic director Mitch
Barnhart could meet early this week.
Barnhart needs a major splash and Calipari would be just the guy to win the
news conference. In addition, he could wind up bringing top incoming freshman big man DeMarcus
Cousins and potentially the nation's top unsigned player in point guard John Wall. Calipari
could also try and bring signee Xavier Henry - if he asked for his release and it
was granted.
