Everyone saw this one coming.
A year ago, the rumors were swirling that Georgia coach Dennis Felton was going to be fired by athletic director Damon Evans.
Then Felton pulled out of miracle when his Bulldogs won the SEC tournament.
Evans was going to make sure there wasn't another miracle this time - and he fired Felton after a 9-11 start and an 0-5 mark in SEC play. An official announcement, according to numerous sources, is expected at 11 a.m. ET this morning.
Look for assistant Pete Hermann to be the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
Now we've already got two vacancies in the SEC - and the hot name for both is VCU head coach Anthony Grant.
Felton took over a program in disarray five-plus years ago and did clean it up in the wake of the Jim Harrick fiasco. Felton went to the NIT twice and led the Bullodgs to the NCAA tournament last season with an automatic berth via the SEC tourney despite a 17-17 mark and a 4-12 record in league play.
Felton, 45, was 84-91 in his tenure in Athens. He also took Western Kentucky to three NCAA appearances in five seasons.
