Louisville needed a big-time guy in the Class of 2010 and
Cardinals assistant Walter McCarty delivered.
San Diego High (Calif.) 6-foot-9 junior big man Jeremy Tyler committed to
Rick Pitino's program on Saturday. The pledge was first reported by Scout.com's
Evan Daniels.
A case can be made that Tyler is the most talented player in the entire junior
class. His stock has fallen a bit over the past year (He's now ranked seventh
overall by Scout.com and ninth by Rivals.com), but he was pursued by USC, Arizona, UCLA, Memphis and plenty of other elite programs.
Tyler took an unofficial visit to Louisville about six weeks ago.
This was a pivotal commitment for the Cardinals, who have stockpiled a bunch of
four-year kids in the Class of 2009 - guard Peyton Siva, wing Mike Marra and
forwards Rakeem Buckles and Stephen Van Treese.
