FOXSports.com has learned that Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon will receive a multi-year contract
extension tomorrow at a news conference.
Athletic Director Steve Pederson will make the announcement at 11 p.m.
Dixon signed a deal through the 2012-13 season back in 2006
after Arizona State and Missouri both made a push to get him.
However, the Panthers needed to get Dixon - one of the top young coaches in the country -
locked up. His record is an impressive 132-40 in five seasons since he was
elevated from an assistant after Ben Howland left for UCLA.
This deal will run through the 2016 campaign.
Pittsburgh has gone to the NCAA tournament each of his five
seasons and the Panthers can make a valid case that they are as talented as
anyone except for North
Carolina
this season.
