Baylor has the inside track with John Wall.
Wall's AAU coach, Dwon Clifton of D-One Sports, has been hired by Scott Drew as
the director of player development.
An official announcement will likely come from Baylor on Friday.
``After receiving offers from several schools from the Big 12 and many other conferences, Dwon has decided to accept a coaching position at Baylor University," Clifton's brother, Brian, who is also one of Wall's coaches,
texted FOXSports.com.
The 6-foot-4 Wall, who plays at Word of God in Raleigh, N.C., is arguably the top player in the country and is the
consensus No. 1 point guard in the nation. Sources indicated that Baylor was in
the mix with Oklahoma State and Oregon as the front-runners to land Wall.
Several schools - including Kansas - had tried unsuccessfully to get in the mix with the
point guard who has been compared to Derrick Rose due to his combination of
size, speed and athleticism.
Sources also indicated that bringing Clifton on board as a coach was critical to gaining a
commitment from Wall.
