I'm back on my kick that there isn't a legitimate No. 1
player in the country.
Derrick Favors has been less than stellar thus far, John Henson was just OK and
John Wall has still played well enough at times to earn the honor.
Honestly, and I've been a noted Lance Stephenson critic, the New York native -
when he plays under control and has the right mindset - could certainly lay as
much claim as anyone else as the top player in the class.
How about the fact that Kansas'
Bill Self was the only high-major coach in the gym watching Stephenson.
That's right. Self and his good buddy, Norm Roberts of St.
John's, are basically the only ones actively
recruiting Stephenson.
I'm not quite sure what that says. On second thought, I think I am sure.
I took a short trip down the road to watch the Olympic team practice this
afternoon (the media is only allowed in for the end) and the consensus among
the players I spoke to is that O.J. Mayo was the best young player on the team
picked to go up against the Olympians this week.
I must be in a good mood because I'm praising Stephenson and Mayo in one blog.
Someone needs to check those tacos I inhaled earlier today from Taco Bell.
RANDOM NOTES: Don't be shocked to
see Georgia Tech pick up another commitment on Thursday. ... Noel Johnson hasn't
found his groove with the Atlanta Celtics and that might bode well for USC,
which may be the front-runner to land the talented wing.
