    OHIO'S O'SHEA LEAVING FOR BRYANT

    Thursday, June 19, 2008, 12:32 PM [General]

Ohio University coach Tim O'Shea is going back to New England.

It was no secret that he wanted out of Ohio. He interviewed for the openings at UMass and Providence and was also in the mix at Brown.

Now he's headed to Bryant University in Rhode Island.

According to sources close to the situation, an announcement is expected on Monday afternoon.

Remember, O'Shea is a New England guy. He grew up in Wayland, Mass., played and later was an assistant coach at Boston College and has a house in Newport, R.I.

He spent seven years at Ohio, won the Mid-American tournament in 2005 and won 20 games last season.

He'll have a difficult job at Bryant, where they will go the D-1 route this year and have a brutal schedule. Max Good recently left to join Bill Bayno's staff at Loyola Marymount.

Look for Ohio associate coach John Rhodes to have a legitimate shot to get the job. Former Missouri State coach Barry Hinson should also be in the mix.
