WALKER IN; DOZIER, PARGO OUT; GILCHRIST TO BIG EAST

Monday, June 16, 2008, 12:15 PM EST [General]

Just got word a little while ago from Reebok's Chris Rivers that Bill Walker is staying in the draft despite the knee injury he suffered this past weekend.

Probably a smart move for Walker. Even though this appears to be a minor knee injury, he's has had two ACL injuries in the past.

Sources told FOXSports.com that both Memphis junior forward Robert Dozier and Gonzaga junior guard Jeremy Pargo have withdrawn from the June 26 NBA Draft.

    SOUTH FLORIDA NETS GILCHRIST

Gus Gilchrist, who opted to transfer from Maryland, has signed a grant-in-aid to attend South Florida.

This is a huge get for Stan Heath and the Bulls.

Gilchrist initially signed with Virginia Tech, but opted to look elsewhere following the on-campus shootings. He then enrolled at Maryland in January, but an ACC rule stated he wouldn't be eligible until the completion of the fall semester of 2008 and would lose a year of eligibility due to the intra-conference transfer rules.

"Current NCAA rules will require Gus to sit a year in residency before he can compete," said Steve Horton, Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance. "However, Compliance will begin working on a waiver request to the NCAA asking that Gus, due to a number of extenuating circumstances, be permitted to play immediately this upcoming academic year. We hope to have this request to the NCAA for their review by next week."
