A few noteworthy things occurred while I was out today with the family:
- New Providence coach Keno Davis has hit an absolute home run with the hiring of Pat Skerry from nearby Rhode Island. Sources have told FOXSports.com that the hiring will be done on Monday. Skerry is a relentless recruiter who was tabbed as the No. 1 mid-major assistant coach in the survey I did a week or so ago. He'll give Davis the east coast presence he needs.
- Georgetown picked up another elite recruit today. Scout.com's Evan Daniels just let me know that long and talented junior DeShonte Riley, a 6-foot-11 forward out of Detroit Country Day, committed to the Hoyas. Credit Georgetown assistant Kenya Hunter for helping to get this one done. Riley was also looking at Michigan State and Ohio State.
- Adam Zagoria, who runs one of the top blogs around, reported that Florida transfer Jonathan Mitchell is headed to Rutgers. Scarlet Knights coach Fred Hill has done a nice job securing some quality local talent with Seton Hall's Bobby Gonzalez has come up short of late.
- Clark Francis of HoopScoop has said that American Christian (Pa.) is closing its doors. However, coach Tony Bergeron told FOXSports.com that the report is "premature."
