I took the day off since there wasn't a lot of college hoops news, anyway.

I was put on NBA playoff duty last night and watched the Boston Celtics toy with the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 of their first-round series.

Kevin Garnett is one of the few NBA players I would dip into my wallet to see play any day of the week. His passion and intensity is absolutely ridiculous.

- I just got off the phone with Mississippi State's Jamont Gordon, who is as good as gone from college basketball unless he gets injured prior to the NBA Draft. He told me he wasn't going to hire an agent - yet.

- As I wrote last night during the Celtics game, Ohio State freshman Kosta Koufos will declare for the draft - but won't hire an agent. Not sure if it'll happen, but just imagine Koufos and B.J. Mullens along Thad Matta's frontline.

- We continue to hear that the UMass gig could be filled tomorrow - and it's been awfully quiet. Former UMass point guard Derek Kellogg appears to be the clear favorite.
