It's a done deal. Drake coach Keno Davis is headed to Providence.
It appears as though a news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
Quality hire by Providence AD Bob Driscoll and Bob Beaudine, who was hired by the school to assist in the search. PC will do fine with winning the press conference by hiring the National Coach of the Year - and he did an impressive job this past season in leading Drake to the NCAA tournament.
Now the speculation can begin as to who replaces Davis at Drake.
How about these three candidates:
- Tennessee assistant Steve Forbes - He's a native of Lone Tree, Iowa, and was a head coach at Barton Community College. Forbes spent two years at Texas A&M under Billy Gillispie and the past two under Bruce Pearl with the Vols.
- Washington State assistant Matt Woodley - Played at Drake and is from West Des Moines, Iowa. Has spent the last two years under Tony Bennett after two at Middle Tennessee.
- Indiana State assistant Greg Lansing - Spent seven seasons as an assistant at Iowa. Father is a Hall of Fame high school coach in the state. Was a high school coach in Des Moines.
