According to numerous sources, Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli will talk to Providence.
Martelli, who is believed to be high atop the list of candidates to replace Tim Welsh in Providence, has spent the last 13 seasons at St. Joe's and is a Philadelphia guy.
Martelli has had inquiries in the past - from Penn State and Rutgers - but one source said the was little to no interest in those jobs whereas he has some level of interest in Providence.
Martelli has won 261 in 13 seasons and went to his fifth NCAA tournament appearance this season. The Hawks lost in the first round to Louisville last week.
