The Boston native, who worked for ESPN for the past year, has joined Rick Majerus' staff at St. Louis.
``I'm excited and honored to work with Coach Majerus and represent St. Louis University," Biancardi told FOXSports.com. "I believe the program is about to take off in the Atlantic 10 and I am happy to be a part of it."
Biancardi was an assistant at Ohio State for six years before getting the head job at Wright State, where he turned around a program that had three straight losing seasons and finished above .500 all three of his seasons at the helm in league play.
Biancardi's tenure at Wright State ended because of the NCAA sanctions imposed while he was at Ohio State.
Look for Biancardi to use his East coast and contacts in the Midwest to bring talent to St. Louis - and don't be surprised if this puts him back in the mix for a head coaching gig, either.
RECRUITING NOTES: Vanderbilt
has gotten things done lately. The Commodores got a pledge from power forward
Steve Tchiengang last month and added Lance Goulbourne, a talented 6-foot-7
small forward out of the Hun School in New Jersey. Goulbourne was also looking
at Rutgers, Marquette,
Notre Dame, Virginia and George
Washington. ... Santa Clara has
completed its five-man class with the pledge of 6-foot-8, 220-pound Marc
Trasolini out of Vancouver.
Trasolini is a rugged, relentless inside guy who will fit in well for Kerry
Keating's program. Keating's staff has done a terrific job making up ground and
part of it is because Keating hired three quality assistants from other WCC
schools. ``It was key being able to get the staff on board right away," Keating
said. "We used April as an evaluation period and our guys got after it." ... Ole
Miss made up for missing out on Delwan Graham by adding 6-foot-9 power forward
Terrance Henry, a consensus Top 100 player. Henry, who hails from Monroe, La.,
chose the Rebels over Kansas, Kentucky and in-state LSU. ... Washington
State coach Tony Bennett got the
word that 6-foot-6 small forward Klay Thompson out of Santa
Margarita, Calif., chose the
Cougars over Notre Dame, Michigan
and Nevada.
