The NBA's goal in pushing
back the date of the Orlando Pre-Draft camp was to try and get more of the
fringe first-round guys to participate.
It hasn't exactly worked.
The NBA has, according to sources, invited 10 players down for "physicals".
These are considered the likely lottery picks who could only hurt their draft
stock by playing in Orlando later this month.
The following is a list of the players
who, according to sources, have been invited down as "physical-only" guys:
Greg Oden, Ohio State
Kevin Durant, Texas
Brandan Wright, North
Carolina
Al Horford, Florida
Corey Brewer, Florida
Joakim Noah, Florida
Jeff Green, Georgetown
Roy Hibbert, Georgetown
Julian Wright, Kansas
Mike Conley Jr., Ohio State
Spencer Hawes, Washington
While the NBA was hopeful that the next tier of prospects would choose to
participate because there are fewer days to workout for teams prior to the June
28 Draft, nothing has changed.
Guys like Nick Young, Thaddeus Young and Josh McRoberts - as well as many other
players who are considered mid- and late-first round picks - have decided to
sit it out.
FOXSports.com has learned that the following underclassmen were invited, but do
not intend to participate in the showcase for NBA teams, which begins on May
29.
