Honestly as my blog says, this injury will be a good thing for the Patriots. It will make them realize that they are not invincible (as they realized back in February), they are not immortal when it comes to injuries, and they are physically and mentally able to make mistakes. Bill Bellichick will realize that other than Tom Brady, their quarterbacks and weak, and they stink. Finally, he will look into getting some other good backups as he has needed to do for a while. I do think that Bill needs to give this Cassel guy a chance. You never know; he could be the next great Matt Schaub or Tony Romo. This predicament will make him think and prepare for more horror scenarios in the future. What if Randy Moss were to get injured? What if Matt Cassell were even to get injured? He will develop the frame of mind where he thinks about the road ahead. It's kind of like playing chess; you are always having to think about what the other person will do in respond to your move. Bellichick had opportunities in the past off-season to aquire some good quarterbacks, but he chose not to. He was not even thinking that Tom Brady could possibly get injured. I mean, the guy has played over 100 consecutive games. Brady probably even had no clue in the locker room before the game about what was going to happen that afternoon. In conclusion, all this will do is help the Pats succeed in the long run.
Also, I think that this in addition to losing Super Bowl XLII is payback for the spygate scandal. Bellichick was a naughty man at the beginning of last season, so he is getting paid back for it at the beginning of this season. After the Patriots having so many dominant season while some cheating was going on, they are finally going to fall back into the crowd with just a mediocre season. This injury is also sending a message to all NFL teams, telling them that they cannot get away with scandals without getting paid back. What comes around, goes around. Finally, we will quit having to here all about Tom Brady and the Pats whenever we flip on the television.
