The best wrestler ever was Alexander Karelin.... He would have beaten anybody at any personal combat sport in his prime. He was well past his prime when he lost to the American, Rulon Gardner, in the olympic greco finals. He has a phd. and was or maybe still is a member of the Russian parliament.
I was born 10 months before Pearl Harbor so I've been around for a while. Was a national collegiate wrestling championin the early 60s and wrestled on the USA team. Probably the best US wrestler of all time was John Smith, the current head wrestling coach at Oklahoma State U. But it's difficult to compare the lighter weights, as Smith was, with the heavier ones like Dan Severin and Sanderson.
Probally the most versitle was Wayne Baughman, national chapion at Oklahoma U. in the mid 60s. he also did folkstyle, and several other styles. He was the head wrestling coach at the Air Force Academy, but I'm quite sure he is retired by now. Several years ago I saw where he was a world class Iron man racer.

Chuck Norris? You're smokin' crack! He wouldn't stand a chance with only karate skills against MMA fighters, besides Bruce Lee beat his ass back in the day.

I just noticed that someone put Anderson Silva as the best kickboxer?? Although the man does have skillz, I think we need to see more before giving him a title like that!!! He beat guys who knew nothing about him fought him at his game... Rich Franklin is a very good fighter, but he left his brain at home that night...
