Well if you have a vet or two about to retire it probably wouldnt hurt to pick up a few more receivers... woudlnt be prudent to put all your eggs in the crabtree basket considering he hasnt played a down yet and might not be all that at this level or have durability issues. better safe than sorry

So have you guys moved passed the holdout yet, or are you still bitter?

I'm just glad he's finally here, and we've been winning without him anyways!  The bye week is just in time to help get him caught up with 2 weeks to just study and learn that playbook.  Hopefully he will be quite the difference maker when it comes to 3rd down efficiency against the Texans during his NFL debut.  Either way, having him and Gore on the field will keep the defense guessing and make a big difference already!

Hopefully he surprises everybody in how quickly he picks up the offense and can help make a huge difference against the Colts.  Beating them, and especially if it is their first loss of the season (which would be all too sweet!), will definitely cement our team as a strong force to be reckoned with, even more than they have done already!!!

Simple truth is Crabtree most likely wont be as much use this year as he could have been. This doesn't mean signing him now was a bad thing either. What it does it allows him to get acclimated to the playbook and get some time in for next year. This way he will be ready to be effective next year and not be a rookie. The 49ers can give him a few plays to make him effective in those schemes and maybe by the playoffs he can be a good slot receiver. Bruce will most likely retire next year or the year after so the timing is perfect for getting a top receiver. We all know it would have been best had he signed earlier but the reality is he didn't. Alot of people are hounding this man as well and it needs to be pointed out that while he may have made a poor choice he has NOT acted like a idiot in the media talking bad about the team or anything of the sort. He just listened to some bad advice and really the tampering of other teams is the reason he say so long. None of you can tell me if another company came to you and said dont work there ill pay you twice what there doing if you can work for me next year and for years to come, you would say no to it. I hope they prove the tampering and the 49ers get more draft picks as compensation for the loss of time and if we ended up with 3 first round picks next year losing Crabtree for half a season would be well worth it.

Ok so Crabtree signed, it doesnt mean hes going to start or for that matter play. Maybe he should have thought of that. The fact is that other guys have worked theyre butts off to be in a starting role. Maybe the little boy was scared of camp singletary or maybe he thought they would lose again this year. Now with that being said he will get his chance and singletary isnt gonna bend over for some youngster whos ears arent even wet. The niners do need him but dont expect any owens type antics cause the new niners arent showboaters or showoffs theyre a family and singletary is daddy. So Mr. crabtree you want to come in our house just show some respect and youlle be ok.Angry

It is great that Crabtee finally signed.  Now we have to hope to have him ready for the playoffs.  Hopefully he and his agent are through being crybabies and he is ready to amaze the 49er faithful.

Surprised Ok Crabtree and his agent finally left their dream world and
signed...so what does that mean for the 49ers? At this point in the
season, not very much. He has missed all of Training Camp, all of
the Preseason games and one quarter of the regular season. This means
that he will be of limited or virtually no usefullness to the team
until at least three quarters of the way thru the season...****uming he
is a fast learner and can make the transition to professional football
with minmal training in the 49ers game system. Singletary has his job
cut out for him working this primadonna into a team that is already
biased against him for the most part for his stupid holdout.

Having said all that, I truly hope that Crabtree lives up to his
hype and promise and develops rapidly into the deadly WR that the
Niners need so badly to round out their game. Finally after this long
hiatus since the late 90s we have a team with potential shaping up
again. I look forward to the rest of the season with great interest.
