Here's some info on Tommie Harris...  Tick, tock, tick, tock (that's the clock running out on Tommie Harris when he gets cut at the end of the year...)

From today's Tribune:
Although coach  Lovie Smith called it precautionary, defensive tackle  Tommie Harris being sidelined for a second day Thursday was not a good sign.

Harris has been slowed by problems with his left knee since first suffering the injury in September 2007. He usually sits out Wednesdays, but his absence Thursday is disconcerting.

"There's always concern when that happens," Smith said. "I hope he will be available (Sunday in Cincinnati)."

Marcus Harrison filled in for Harris the last two days. Harrison started at nose tackle Sunday with Anthony Adams dealing with a sprained toe.

"Marcus has played well," Smith said. "Active, a lot of energy, plays hard. The same goes for Israel Idonije."

Harris has played through knee pain before, so it seems likely he will do the same Sunday.

haha yea they have gotten very anal with their a s s blocking lately.

funny how you listen to the boneheads on mnf talking about the great and mystical dom capers and then hear the real deal. wish i had time to keep up with every coach player and team but hafta rely on my fellow fans and do some work occasionally too.

so are ya'll pretty satisfied with the players and coaches in chicago now? i mean theres not much you can do about injuries, and was wondering if cuttler would be able to hit the ground running, but things seem to be working out ok so far - well to this casual observer anyway.

The Packs D has no p**** rushers.  You need LB's who can rush the p****er and the Packers have one LB, Kampmann, who can rush the p****er.  Problem with Kampmann is that he's a hands on the ground guy and is not used to rushing frmo a two point stance.  Plus, he's not rushing on every play, so you're taking your best and most effective rusher and dropping him into coverage.  Pack also ran a two man line most  of the time against the Vikes so they could contain the running back and they had zero p**** rush all night.

Dom Capers is not a top D coordinator also.  Other than when he was in Pittsburgh and had some top notch talent, he's never had a top defense consistently.  I have some friends who play for and work for the Pats and the consensus in that locker room last year was very anti-Dom Capers.  Belicheck didn't like him and didn't respect him after working with him and were glad to see him walk.

admit i'm not that familiar with the norse teams but suppose the packs D could be that bad? swear there were times i thought brett could have ran to the bathroom and come back to finish a play. the vikes o line looked like senior schoolyard bullies tossing the freshmen around. pretty sure brett stopped to check his messages on his blackberry during one of the p**** plays too.

No we won't.  There O-line isn't nearly as good as it was in the past.  Loadholt is a massive presence but plays way too high.  McKinnie doesn't dominate the point like he should and the center and RG aren't anything special.  All they need to do is get in the way of the front 7 on D and let AP pick his holes and break it.  Packers swarmed AP last night and manhandled him.

So much for the big switch to 3-4 for the packers.  I wasn't quite sure how so many people loved the switch.  Where does it say that a mediocre 4-3 will become a dominant 3-4?  You can't make chicken soup out of chicken sh!t.

now we're talking.  Tillman is fine in coverage, his hips and legs sound and he still gets a solid jam on the receiver coming off the line.  He may not be the tackler he once was, but he's still technically sound.  FS is where he should end up and I've made my case why in the past.  Kevin Payne at FS is a disaster.  He plays out of control and doesn't have the range to play FS.  He's a natural SS.  Afalava may not be the athlete that Payne is but plays under much more control and is in the proper place at the right times.  He's a decent zone SS.  If Payne ever learns to play under control, he's better than Payne.  I'm not wasting any breath on Vasher.  Bowman is a work in progress and is out of position playing the RCB.  He's a LCB where he can jam the flanker and isn't comfortable playing off the receiver.

Tommie Harris is the best player on this defense.  I love the guy.  He's fast, explosive, dedicated and demands a double team every time he's on the field. Crazy

In all seriousness, Tommie Harris should be a spot player at this point and not a starter.  Harrison should be starting at the 2 spot and Adams should be at the under.

I saw Gilbert on three snaps and he was late off the snap all three times and he was stonewalled on his initial move because he plays way too tall.  He's a work in progress and is at least 1-2 years away from being anything close to a good D-lineman.  LB's are fast and can flow and getting Pisa back will be a great help.  Lance Briggs is playing out of his mind right now and is probably one of the leading contenders for defensive player of the year.  He may be the best OLB in Bears history.

If there's anything else you all want my opinion on, let me know.  I love pontificating.
