I don't think the Cassel thing was too smart. I didn't see the urgency to bring him on and create a circus when we had Thigpen finish the previous season pretty good. Now I don't know what happened to Thigpen during camp and the preseason, I can only guess that the spotlight that followed Cassel into K.C. has affected his play. All in all I think we needed a solid receiver to replace the hands the Chiefs had in Gonzalez. Yes we have Bowe, but that seems like thats it.
As for our new coach Todd Haley, I think Pioli may need to pull the chain on Haley a little. Haley can sometimes act irrationally. I tend to think you hack your offensive coordinator a little further away from the start of the season than Haley did. I just don't think Haley should be pulling double duty in his first year not only with a new team but his first time as a head coach.
And did we need T.Jackson in the third overall? Couldn't we have still got him many picks later? If memory serves I think we could have nabbed him 10-18. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.
