one other thing, the top 5 contract comes with a top 5 pick. a top 10 contract comes with a top 10 pick. do the math anyone with a GED Education can figure this one out. and if you ask me you should get less with each passing day for missing camp and practice. at least if you practiced with the team you would not miss a beat when it came time to start the season

I really do think you should just sit the year out and see how far you slip in the draft next year... what do you think you are a randy moss or what....
I would love it if every team would not neg on a rookies demands. I really don't you are that good just because you got drafted. I know SF remembers signing Alex Smith to a big contract his rookie year to only be disappointed. and remember the Lions taking can't miss receivers every year for like 3 or 4 straight years and only one panned out Roy Williams who is not even a loin anymore. you should  just take all the money the CFL will give you this year and see if you can even make that team. hell Owens never did this and he produced right away. or better yet sign for league min with bonuses for what you do on the field although you will not do much missing all of camp. Just stick to your guns and re-enter the draft

I couldn't agree with you more Targash. All Crabtree is doing is hurting his reputation as a good receiver. Now teams will see for next year, if he sits out this year, is that if they don't give him the money he wants, he will sit out AGAIN. I'm tired of players who are getting picked in the top 10 demanding all this money and they haven't even participated in training camp yet, let alone played a down in a REAL NFL game and get hit by a REAL NFL player. The NFL NEEDS to come up with a salary cap for rookies. These guys will be making more money than they ever have. So, why not just sign for league minimum until you can redo your intial contract. If my memory serves me correct, the greatest wide receiver in history, Jerry Rice, didn't demand a big contract when he was drafted. He did his work on the field and let that be his argument for a bigger contract when it was time. Then he kept re-negotiating his contract to keep good players on the team. That makes a great player, one who thinks about the team, not about himself.

SO, CRABTREE , SHRINK YOUR HEAD AND SIGN A CONTRACT AND GET YOUR BUTT IN CAMP AND START YOUR NFL CAREER.

As far as I'm conderned Crabtree is overrated by pro standards unless prroven otherwise. 49ers are making strides and looking better than they have.
I majored in Liberal Arts...Will that be for here or to go?

Hey Michael just wanted to toss ya a word of advice. Fire your agent and sign your contract. Aaron Maybin has signed today with the Bills. Pretty much everyone around you has signed. I know your worth a top 5 contract but the facts are if the 49er's pay top 5 money it sets a example that will cause a tremendous problem signing players next year if a rookie cap isn't finally put in place. Focus on being a great receiver and if you don't get paid top 5 money and you have earned it on your next contract ill be fine with that. If you want to negotiate anything negotiate for a short contract so you can redo it quickly. I'm certain if you produce the 49er's will renegotiate your contract before it expires and you will get paid. The reason I say fire your agent as well is then you can escape the blame for a bad move on his part. If you stay with your agent and sign the contract it will reflect poorly on both of you.

Now to the 49er's Crabtree doesn't deserve top 5 money cause of his draft slot. However paying him above the 9th player a little wont disrupt the slotting much. You can justify a higher pay by position of play instead of of draft position but you cant do much more than beating the 9th pick or match the 8th. Certainly not what the raiders gave.

Back to Crabtree one last time. Do you actually think your doing yourself good by dragging this contract out? You can be this teams top receiver if you start working now but the longer you wait the less likely impact you will have as a rookie. Rookie of the year on your resume would go a long ways to getting that payday on your next contract. Also with all the teams that passed on you this year do you honestly think they wont do the same next year and be even more wary. Also the loss of playtime will hurt your overall career stats. The loss of a years pay alone may make up for any difference you MIGHT get next year and just puts you one year farther from your 2nd contract, the real pay day. Get your butt in camp and show the team why you deserve to be paid big bucks and well all be behind you.
