Bill Walsh said "Joe Montana plays excellent in this system. But Dan Marino, that guy is a system." I believe hes the best pure passer ever. Teams win Super Bowls, not individual players though. Its a shame he never got his, and a crime the Fins organization never helped him.

Mp, I respect your logic, but we are going to have to agree to disagree. Like I said, I never called Brady the best. My point was to say that he was "not even close", is totally wrong.
Sometimes it is that black and white. Something has to be said for a kid to come in his first year and completly turn a 1 and 4 start, into a Super Bowl team. And I completly agree with you about that BS with the Colts changing the rules (damn I hate that team), Brady still won those Super Bowls with the old rules. And look at the AFC championship game a year ago with the Colts. Brady got them that far when his best reciever was who? Caldwell! Are you serious!
Here's my list for the top QB's of the Super Bowl Era: 1. Montana 2. Elway 3. Brady 4. Marino 5. Favre 6. Bradshaw 7. Young 8. Aikman 9. Starbach (spelling) 10. Manning[/quote] soon eli will be on the list

And despite that last call out of Peyton, i think he is a robot designed by the NFL to destroy defenses. I put him higher on the list. Did you know that depite winning the 4 Super Bowls (not to take anything away from ya i do like this guy a lot real class act) Bradshaw only threw 2 more TDs then INTs in his career? Amazing huh.

I did go over the top with not even close. I am a constant Pats defender as you see, but i just sometimes have this love for the old school football. I will never forgive Peyton after he changed the rules, and especially after he handily smashed my team in the Super Bowl :( A feat that i fear this team isnt headed for in the next 2 years or so. Dont care how cool or funny you are Peyton....the new rules have taken a lot of physicality out of football and i dont like it.

Cmon now...take all these guys offensive statistics with a grain of salt. Wouldnt happen if football was still as physical as it used to be. Also the new "cant hit the QB" rule, the "No hitting hard" rule (my interpretation of leading with the helmet), and the Roy Williams rule. NFL today is going to get closer and closer to arena league then it is the physical gme it once was. I wonder what Lombardi and Halas would say about the rules of today....

Tahts a joke right? Take away this season and his TD to INT ratio is above average, but not HOF quality. And those Super Bowls were done with defenses that were always tops in the league. If Marino had that defense, yeah he woulda won the Super Bowl. A few of em too. Plus he called his own game, and thats gotta count for a lot. And plus Brady and Manning wouldnt even come close to his records had Peyton not ruined football with the "No Defense" rules. It has changed the game more then anything i have ever ever seen and its ruined football. Todays game is filled with a bunch of sissies, pssys and other derogitory terms for men who have no balls. Just think of it this way when Jerry set the TD record he did it in 12 games. DBacks were allowed to aqssault the wide recievers untill the ball was IN THE AIR. not this stupid 5 yards rule. So imagine if Jerry played a full season, and he couldnt be touched. 30 TD season? Probably more. If Marinos recievers couldnt be touched, his records would have been sent through the roof. And as you saw in the last Super Bowl, football is the ultimate team game, and when Marino played he played against other dynastys. Every team in the NFC East, the Bears, Niners, Raiders, Rams, all teams that dominated football. Today its mediocrity, not parity. Its a totally different game, and if Marino played today, and he had any bit of the All Star defense that Brady has, he wouldve won every year. No stars cmon now that arguement doesnt hold up. No recievers i guess. That defense was always loaded with stars. Just no one had eye popping stats, but anyone who watches them play sees them as stars.
