yes to teams from the same division did play for the conference championship it was the year that the raiders beat the redskins in superbowl 19. They played the Seattle Seahawks for the AFC Championship. Not sure if that was the first time that happened but I remember the Game because they were playing in LA and i Thought that it was cool that the home team and visiting teams names and logos were in opposite endzones.
