Wow, the Chargers luckily got the win. Now on to Indianapolis.
The Chargers would be in a much better position to win with a healthy Gates. IMO, no way he plays on Sunday. We are talking about playing on an artificial surface and I don't believe he will be able to make the precise cuts on routes that need to be made given the toe injury.
I do hope they play Malcom Floyd. He really hasn't gotten much of a chance to play this year and if Gates can't go, the Chargers need to get Floyd playing in Gates absence. Yes, Floyd is a wide receiver and Gates is a tight end, but I think Floyd is big enough to play tight end on an emergency basis with the two tight end sets.
Not happy with Rivers throwing the ball. Receivers that wide open and he can't throw the pass so the receiver can catch it in stride? The receivers have to sit there and in the time they wait for the ball, they could go out and eat lunch and the ball will be just arriving when they come back. The balls are arriving that late. The Chargers were lucky with all of the Titans blown coverages yesterday. The Colts secondary will play much better. Rivers has to get the ball to the WR much quicker.
Speaking of the offense, a few screens would be nice.
I saw a lot of open real estate yesterday. LT needs to learn to bounce outside if the play isn't there running up the middle, there were plenty of gaps for bigger rushing gains, but he just ran into the pile and fell down.
Chargers need to play physical pressure defense. Bend but don't break prevent defenses doesn't work against patient qbs.
It is an awful lot. to expect Manning to have another interception filled game. I just hope the Chargers are in his head a bit and that, that will be enough to cause Peyton to have a bad day.
