IMHO, DT was the most fearsome player of his era.... Loved watching the race between Neil Smith and DT to opposing QBs! My personal favorite moment was Jeff (the Jerk) George's first start in KC for the Faiders in 2000. Earlier in the week George had been quoted as saying he was "not that concerned" about DT. Gunther Cunningham naturally blew this up poster-sized and hung it in DT's locker. On the Faiders' first possession, can't remember if it was 2nd or 3rd down, but George's 1st dropback, WHAM! blindsided by DT. DT, being the man he was, helped George pick himself off the turf of Arrowhead after driving him into it. In the replay, you could very clearly see DT mouth the words "I'll be back" to George. Not yelling or talking trash at him, simply stating a fact. End of game #'s were 6 sacks for DT alone, 9 for the Chiefs as a team, and something like 15 or 16 hits on George. I love that memory mostly because it shows everything DT was about: high-quality play, sportsmanship (in helping the guy you just beat down get up), and consistency (George's last dropback of the game was DT's 6th sack). Tragic that his life came to an end for want of wearing a seatbelt. My one ridiculously expensive Chiefs item is a Mitchell & Ness Replica of the 1994 red DT Chiefs jersey, complete with 75th anniversary NFL patch and 35th anniversary Chiefs patch. I plan on wearing it to the game in Dec when his # will be retired and his HOF ring is presented to his family. God Bless DT for being an amazing athlete who used his gifts to entertain millions and used his leverage and fame to help the community and start things that will never end. The 3rd and Long Foundation is still going strong, Derrick your legacy lives on forever -

Every sack was better then the last, But the sacks in honor of his dad were legendary. I believe three of those years he registered 3 sacks per game. The Fly overs at Arrowhead were chilling, 78000 fans honoring his dad that was shot down in Nam flying sortees during Operation Linebacker. Awesome

DT was definately one of the best defensive players to ever play the game.
Used to love the way he would bowl over double teams or even reach thru them and somehow make the tackle anyway.
Looks like he still holds the single game sack record too - 7 vs seattle.
No doubt about his making it to the hall of fame this year either - he was never anything but a class act and an absolute terror to anyone who faced off against him.
Thankfully as long as there are hilight reels he will never be forgotten.

DT was a force to to reckon with when ever teams went head to head with the Chiefs defense. I think my favorite DT moments was when the Chiefs met the Raiders because DT always made that rivilary so much better and ever time DT sacked Jay made me jump for joy.
