Change (the defense) has been long over due, but it needs to happen now!!!!!! The first thing needed is some HEART!!!! That is a conversation in itself. There are only a few players on todays team that show any type of heart. Next, there is a total breakdown throughout the organization. First, the defensive scheme is mediocre at best, then you throw in the existing players and it becomes worse. There is a lack of understanding, talent and they are not good enough to recover. It really takes a perfect game by the defense in order for denver to be competitive. If the offense doesn't have an above average day the game is over.
I watch highlight after highlight of bronco players missing tackles, not understanding the scheme, nor understanding the situation, i.e. down and yardage!!!! If they can NOT do BASIC fundamentals, how do they become successful??? They Don't!!!!
There is no good news to report for the defense's future, stats don't lie. If Denver can put together an average, AVERAGE defense at best, the offense has more than enough talent, ability, speed and just plain weapons to be productive, competitive and win. But REMEMBER defenses win champoinships!!!!!!!!!!!! Why does this have to be revisited, over and over.
If Mike is not willing to accept this philosophy then why is he still calling the shots? This is about a team, not just the offense. I have been a Denver Broncos fan for most of my life (Since '85). Over the past decade, Denver has become a playground for running backs, they may have a few games with success in stopping the run but there is no balance; and the secondary is exploited.
Denver, if you have any desire to really be champoins in the NFL or even in the division, defense, defense, and defense. Even if this means getting rid of Champ Bailey.
