People who think like this are perpetuaters of hate, race, and exhibit true ingnorance of the problem. The fact that Vick and Portis are black is IRRELEVANT. What IS relevant is that Mr. Vick was hosting dog fighting on his property. IF he was indeed involved in this ILLEGAL activity he should be prosecuted REGARDLESS of what his skin color is. Mr. Portis was WRONG to condone dog fighting REGARDLESS of what HIS skin color is. This has NOTHING to do with race but EVERYTING to do with being humane to helpless animals and RIGHT and WRONG. Anyone who thinks this is a race issue is ignoring the illegality and inhumanity of a cruel and ILLEGAL activity. Those who blame race for everything are the racist themselves because they WRONGLY view any activity by minorities as OK. If anyone says anything about it they claim it's racial and use that as an excuse for the offender being prosecuted. What do you think klan members thought when they were being prosecuted for killing innocent people? Because their victims were black they TOO thought their prosecution was just the black man taking out his revenge on a white. THAT is RACIST thinking and no matter WHAT your skin color it REMAINS racist thinking. Slavery was wrong in every aspect that one can look at it. Slavery was not solely an activity of whites owning blacks but the other way around. There were also white slaves called endentured servants. No human being should own another regardless of color. Slavery ended in this country in 1865, that's 142 YEARS ago, although racism still exists. Racism ALSO isn't a white only affliction. Blacks and other races have their OWN racists who largely go ignored by many who blame whites for everything. Using racism as an excuse for committing crimes is nothing more than a COP OUT. I could sit here and make seemingly valid excuses for everything I've done wrong in my life but that would be COPPING OUT and blaming someone else for MY actions. Quit trying to make Vick and Portis look like victims of a cruel society of bigots when in reality VICK is suspected of being cruel to animals and Portis wrongly supports it.
