The best thing to happen to the Falcons was having Parcells take the Dolphins job. IMO, the Dolphins will be entertaining to watch off of the field. On the field, I don't have much hope for them.
I do feel bad for their fans.
I don't believe for one minute that Parcells will stay for the full duration of his contract. I can't imagine any head coach or GM wanting to work under Parcells. Just by watching Parcells for all of these years, I have come to the conclusion that his personality is so dominate, that he won't be able to help but interfere with the GM as well as the coaching. That means that the Dolphins will probably have to hire a passive GM and a passive coach. I don't know if the players will respect a passive coach.
Again, I believe the Falcons are far better off without Parcells. If the Falcons could bring in Schottenheimer as coach, I think that would help, just as long as Marty doesn't interfere with player acquisitions. Marty as coach, yes. Marty as GM, no.

MSN reports that the contract fell through because Parcells is gonna go to Miami instead.
On the 7th day, God made the Dallas Cowboys.

Parcells might not be the long term answer, but if you want to turn your franchise around quick, he's the man! Good luck with it Falcon fans, you deserve some good luck.

Tuna is a winner, this shows why Blank has been such a sucessful business man. Two bad moves can be erased but it will take a couple of years.

Way to go Blank. This is someone the Fans can believe in. He is what he is, a good solid football man who is dependable. Since 1966 no one has ever built this team from the ground up, we are falt on our backs and now it is time to build.

I definitely think this would be a step in the right direction for the Falcons for a few reasons:
1. We're talking about the Falcons... any move can only improve their situation.
2. Parcell demands respect and that's exactly what this organization needs.
3. Players need to see people COMING to Atlanta, not fleaing.
4. Landing a Hall of Fame coach to help in the adminstration speaks loudly. Right now nobody wants to go to the Falcons. Players are afraid to be sent there and it's a coaching nightmare. It will take someone with a big name (like the Big Tuna) to show that it's worth fighting for and that there's hope.
...Trust me, as a Saints fan, the best way to turn a football team around is to show the entire franchise that HOPE is tangible. it might be a long journey... but this is a good move.

So it appears likely that Bill Parcells will be taking a front office gig with the Falcons. Is this a good fit? Is he going to be able to turn the team around when he's not on the sidelines? Will he just meddle too much with whoever ends up coaching the team? Does he have enough fire at 66 to make any sort of difference with this team.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
