The Bears have said on their website that they are NOT going to select Miamis Kenny Philips. They pretty much told everyone that the first round selection will be spent on a tackle, and i think thats a good move. I think a good move for the Bears free agency-wise would be to PASS on Alan Faneca. I know iv been pulling for him to come to the Bears and hopin that they would sign him, but his play doesnt measure up to his reputation the more i watch him on NFL network and i dont think hes going to be worth the Steve Hutchinson esque contract he will probably get (probably from the Jets). I would really like to see them sign Julius Jones who would come cheaply (though probably wont come at all after the way we treated his brother) and could certainly be a good change of pace back. Either him or Musa Smith, who has a very nice combination of size and speed and would definatly come at a bargain price. Jerry Porter or Bryant Johnson would be nice pickups at Wide Reciever, though they will probably sign elsewhere id like to see us sign at least ONE proven commodity at wide reciever. I dont like the idea of osing the top 2 wide recievers for the last 3 years all in the same offseason. For our offensive line, i think signing Jacob Bell would be a smart move. Hes a young guard with starting experience, and is pretty good. Jeff Faine might be another decent option, he helped the Saints offensive line out plenty, and Maurice Williams is a road grater and could be a good number 3 tackle. One of those guys would be nice, and dont get me wrong im all for rewarding our own players, but we do need some outside help and with the release or Archuletta that would save even more cap space that could be put to use on adding some key piece this offseason.
