I 100% agree! A terrible coach can bring a great team down. Atlanta does have one its best teams in years. They are significantly better this year than last year. However it looks like they will barely win more games than they did last year. All the worst teams in the NBA are climbing fast. The Hawks are only 3 wins better than the Bucks, 7 wins better than the Knicks, now Chicago has a better record than us. I wouldn't be surprised that the Hawks will be 2nd to last place in the conference when its over. Thank God, the Hawks are not as bad as Miami. Here is one positive note....if the Hawks are among the top 4 worse teams in the NBA, we will get a shot at a top player in 2008 Draft. Than again, I afraid that the Hawks GM will screw that up again. We had a no lose situation to get Deron Williams one year and Chris Paul the following year. And the worst thing about it was the Hawks needed a Point Guard the most, not another D A M N forward.

Atlanta just lost the Charlotte by 15 points --capping off a solid 4 game lossing streak. Woodson has run out of excuses. He has a solid point guard (Mike Bibby). The team has remained relatively healthy and the Hawks are sliding out of the playoff picture. Why? Coaching.

The Hawks have NEVER played fundamental defense, (including Josh Smith, but excluding Al Horford). The Hawks, especially Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson, miss more defensive assignments than they get right. Josh Smith's stat stuffing blocking (which usually mean he is leaving his man to chase the block) strategy is now being exploited by team like Golden State who are moving their small and power forward beyond the three point line forcing Josh to either defend the three point threat of provide weak side help.

I believe that Hawks had enough talent before the trade to make the playoffs. Addiing Bibby improved the offense, but it did not improve the play calling and the rotation. After three years, Woodson has under utilized Za Za, Stoudamire and Jones and now that they are needed to help during a playoff push --THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR ROLES.

These are correctable problems, but you have to have a coach who can get in the face of these players and demand better. We do not have that.
