Maniah lemme ask you something...Jason Giambi was making a little more than 15 million a year for the Yankees when he signed that 7 year 120 million dollar contract in 2001. You clearly know baseball, probably better than i do too. But did that money make him a better player? No. He sucked in the field, and never hit in the clutch. I mean there was a lot of ARod bashing back then so no one noticed it, but Giambi was just as bad. You get my point.

Yankees were one of the few teams in baseball to actually cut its payroll from the previous years. Means they should be worse right? Anyway i heard Torii Hunter was complaining about the Yankees payroll after the Angels lost too. This a man who left the small market Twins to become an 85 million dollar man in LA. Nice try Hunter.

Your comment about the Yankee payroll being more than the Phillies doesn't make any sense. This isn't the first year the Yankees have spent more on payroll. This year, the Yankees had spirit and heart and played to win. That's what made the biggest difference!
