Pedro Would Be A King In New York

Ok, I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. Pedro was once in New York, with the Mets, and even they got sick of him. Back in the day Pedro was a dominant pitcher who became a thorn in the Yankees sides (just like every other Red Sox player). However he has not be that dominant in years. He has limited range of pitches and relied on his fastball speed to overcome the batters. And as time went by, so did his fastball barely reach the 89-90 mph mark. Pedro would not have been treated like a king in New York because for all his strike outs and wins, he was always out for number 1 (Pedro), never about the team. If he doesn't produce he'll say the same thing in interviews "I was pitching just fine except for that---(insert home run, grand slam, walk in run, and/or 6 runs in such and such inning)." He talks a lot of smack about other teams and builds himself up like he's still an all star, but truth is, there are a lot better pitchers out there who talk less and produce more than Pedro Martinez. The Yankees were Pedros daddy. They would never have welcomed him the way that the fans welcomed Johnny Damon when he left Boston because Pedro doesn't know how to be humble. And when it comes to being a Yankee, the Boss does not like showy players with so-so outings.

You know...as a lifelong Yankee fan...I think this was right on the mark..my dislike for Pedro is strictly because of his Red Sox uniform...but as a performer...and I know I will probably get a little heat for this...but ...he was a great pitcher...who just happened to play in the wrong town..he was as dominant as any pitcher in his prime...and even at his age...he showed himself proud at his outing against the Yankees...I would feel a little sad...if what I saw last night was the last time I will see him pitch...don't get me wrong I'm glad we won...but at the same time ...he was as colorful a character and a fantastic pitcher as we have ever seen...who will be missed ...if and when he retires..our game needs players like him...we have become to robotized..and need more  "PERSONALITY"..in baseball...If he was a Yankee...they would have retired his number...Pedro...Thanks for all the fun you provided...and all the greatness you have shown as a pitcher..
