Couple more thoughts on the DeRosa "deal":

1.) If DeRosa had been productive from the start instead of sitting the bench for 2 weeks, we wouldn't have had to pick up Halliday.

The idea behind picking up De Rosa was to STAY in 1st.  Since he sat the bench for 2 weex, we were put in the awkward situation of

A.) having to get back into 1st after falling behind the CUBS.

B. ) having to also, pick up Haliday.

Staying in 1st is a lot easier than getting back into 1st.

2.) I'll bet that De Rosa's 2 week vacation was totally unappreciated by Mozeliak, who had to double down in order to stay in 1st place and, that he will be glad to pay De Rosa back at the first opportunity.

Finallly, I'll say that having had to sweat giving up one run against the Dodgers even after adding Haliday and De Rosa to Pujols, Ludwig, Ankiel and Ryan is completely inexcuseable.

Still no run support.

Having guys like De Rosa and Holiday in your line up isn't going to scAre the opposition into giving up runs.

The only way deals like this pay off is if they start producing the minute they take the field and continue to produce the entire time they are on  your payroll.

If average in the 2.5 weeks he sat the bench at .000 or .100 per game, what is De Rosa's batting average as a St. Louis Cardinal?

If at this point, its not better than Chris Duncan was when he left, we would, in fact, be better off to have left De Rosa where he was.

Say what they like about Wellemyer but his numbers are a hell of a lot better than carpenter's have been over the past 2 years.  And for a  lot less dough.

Value for dollar spent, I'll take a Wainright over a Carpenter ANY dAy.
