Both guys who finished second should have won. I believe it has a lot to do with the BBWA not wanting to prove all the talking heads correct. Very few in the TV/Online baseball media picked the two eventual winners, they sided with the correct choices of Pujols and Jeter. So the BBWA out-thinks itself, gets to make some news of its' own and says, "See ,you guys have no idea what you're talking about. We are the experts." In the meantime, two deserving candidates get shafted. It's not like Howard and Moreanu suck - they were just not MVP's. All they really did was lead the league in RBI's.
