[i]Please Read ... This isn't a testament to how good or bad a man Barry Bonds is, rather it is a testament to a system that doesn't work. Compare any major league sport (with the exception perhaps of NFL Football) and each sports use of the political, social and league legal systems and then formulate an opinion as to what, if anything, Barry Bonds or anyone associated with major league baseball specifically has done wrong or right.

At question is whether or not Barry or any active player has abused an illegal substance. A second question is whether or not Barry or any active player has falsely testified before a Grand Jury or any jury of peers and been soundly proven to be a liar, a user of a banned substance (at time of allegation mind you) or anything else to have threatened each persons ability to perform at major league level performance? Now reflect upon one's ability to surpass some of the most cherished records in the history of the applicable sport?

Barry Bonds specifically entered major league baseball hierarchy in the latter 1980's and nearly immediately perked the eyes and ears of nearly every statistician and record keeper -- be they either professional or amateur found at any of hundreds of thousands of Sports Pubs/Restaurants nationwide and worldwide for that matter. Each persons comments were in the arena of what the future held for Barry Bonds as the present was witnessing with Wayne Gretzky in the National Hockey League.

Surely, you are already pondering what the heck all of this has to do with an indictment, or anything associated with what four or more years of what some believe is a witch-hunt and still others believe is Barry's just do. I will spare my personal opinion due that my blood pressure will rise too much to quickly and I'll never finish the 'short' story.

Athletes are professionals much like any professional in the workforce. They train, practice, use techniques applicable to that which they do, seek out 'tricks of the trade' to either sustain their current ability soasto not render their profession to a younger jock wishing to fill a roster spot or improve their ability to further separate themselves from the rest of the field to possibly make a name for themselves in the annals of history in their given profession. Let's not forget that athletes do not sustain careers anywhere near that of a professional in the normal social structure, i.e. Lawyer, Banker, Doctor, Educator or any other of a number of chosen professions.

I have the utmost respect for Bob Costas but ardently disagree with comments he made to Mike & Mike of ESPN lore where in his statement about where Barry Bonds stands in the hierarchy of baseballs all-time greats. In Bob's statement he infers to comparing statistical numbers of Henry Aaron and Barry Bonds wherein if Barry had retired from or otherwise not continued his career into 2007 and I for one hope beyond he would not have had put up the numbers to challenge the likes of the great Henry Aaron and other miscellaneous awards he has sustained in his stellar career. I beg to challenge that slant with the idea that if you subtract that many years from Barry Bonds' career than you must do likewise to the careers of those to whom you compare him. Thus, I would not had borne witness to Mr. Aaron's 707th and 709th home-runs and soon thereafter the 714 required to be the king in his era.

Let's talk about whether or not Human Growth Hormones (HGH) or other steroidal supplementation is capable of putting the meat of the bat into the center of a baseball as such to propel it the required distance to clear the fences. Let's talk about when Barry Bonds was stealing bases and acquiring Gold Gloves for his consistent and All-Star select performances nearly day-in and night-out. Let's reflect upon how many free passes he was ascribed due to his threat to hit another dinger at a moment crucial to whether your own team won, lost or was further embarrassed by ones ability to propel a ball to the seats. Let's talk about how many other games he may
