Why couldn't we get an Adam Dunn to play left?

It sure doesn't look like they know what they're doing. That's my biggest beef. They always seem to take away before they add. I'll be happy when we get a strong starting rotation and some slugger. I'd rather have kept Barfield and gone with an Aubrey Huff at 3rd myself.

As posted in my blog on the previous day...I couldn't agree more. Same story w/ the 1998 Padres that went to the World Series. They made it and then let every body go for some reason. We've let more All-Stars go then any other team and it's embarassing; and we did the same thing this year w/ Barfield and Piazza (Piazza once an All-Star and Barfield was on his way) to name a few.

Good Post.

I am with you on your frustration. The problem is that all San Diego sports owners don't have enough guts to take a risk on a large contract. San Diego (the city)would not be having internal financial problems if they would think long-term with the sports owners. Political corruption runs this city.

Hopefully Greg Maddox will have another 15 win season and Peavy (if still a Padre) will focus hard, train hard, and most importantly listen to the veterans. His stuff is nasty but he is starting to lose focus.

 It is unfortunate for all fans of different sports to watch your team be dimsmantled after having success for a couple of years. But for me as a fan of the Pads for over 20 years, it breaks my heart to watch them do this to us once again. I remember being young and watching the miracle 84' team that was amazing, only to be dismantled in a matter of years. What a historical cliche, history always repeats itself. So, now we as fans brace ourselves to be mediocre for another half a decade.

I don't live in California anymore, but I love my Padres and all I hear and read in the news is that we are going after Marcus Giles. What are we waiting for? How about landing someone like Zito or a big bat (someone that can hit for power). In my opinon we were one power hitter away from being serious contenders, now we are serious pretenders. Heck! why not bring back the Clippers.

To summ it all up in one word, FRUSTRATION!
