bottomline,,cheating has been going on since they invented the game,,and it still goes on and will continue to go on,,why pick out certain players and chastise them when they really don't have enough evidence to convict them,,if they did,,why is Big Mac not in court ??

and I'll throw this one for free,,if it is the cheating aspect of it,,why is Gaylord Perry and Ty Cobb in the HoF?? And how many people even know that the great Babe Ruth once punched an umpire during a game for a bad call and was ejected???What if that happened today on the field by A-Rod,,would that tarnish his HoF chances ??

Here is one for you haters out there,,was Big Mac hitting HRs before all of this came up ?? If I'm not mistaken he hit 49 HRs his rookie year in 1987.Now since that time, the 90s, this is what is known as the "steroid era". Only a handful of players, probably under ten,,had a dramatic increase in HRs when it is speculated that steroids were widely used by alot more than ten players. In 1991 ,the man himself,Canseco only had 44 HRs and admitted using 'roids. My question is,,why didn't he hit 70 HRs that year ??He played in 154 games so he had plenty of chances. Why has there only been 3 players that have hit over 60 HRs during that time if 'roids make you hit HRs ?? Are you going to tell me that only 3 players used 'roids ?? And then what about the pitchers and the 'roids ??Wasn't they using them too and for what reason ?? Answer these questions all you purist out there and then I'll listen to your arguement as to why McGwire should not be in th HoF,,until then Big Mac is being scre wed by the same people that cheered him 10 years ago.

Today I am sufficiently convinced, like many other baseball fans, that there were players who decided to secretly take advantage of an illegal drug to enhance their performance. Now I could go into all the reasons this is wrong but that discussion has been had and at the end of the day either you agree or you don

You got that right! The only real evidence is Cansecos book, and I still say Canseco was just saying it to sell books. Theyve never proven anything about Pudge Rodriguez and theyve never proven anything about Big Mac. In fact, Im still not convinced that Palmiero was really guilty. McGwire belongs in the Hall. He was like Killebrew, who certainly deserves it, and Big Mac does too! And why is Rosendork dredging this up now? MOVE THE FIG ON, LOSER!

HOF voting should be taken away from the sports writers and put in the hands of the true fans of baseball and all other sports. writers think they are gods because they control who gets in and who don't. looking back at voting history how come some of the great players in there sport were not voted into the hall until 10,15 20, years later. if a player does not do a interview with a writer. the writer then blackballs him for the HOF voting. fans of the world of sports are more informed these days. it's our HOF not yours, so why shouldn't we as fans decide who goes in and who don't. sports writers get into the HOF also, so let the players themself decide which writers should get in. maybe the writers will then be more of the truth then half truth.

So, reidmae... when something is against the law does a league still have to have a rule against it? So, Joe MLB baseball player goes out and commits armed robbery and blows the convenience store clerk away in the process, he gets a pass 'cause his league didn't have a rule against it? Come on. That entire Sosa-McGwire season 10 years ago was a joke and I thought so at the time. Anyone that watched Brady Anderson crush 50+ homers a season or two before knew something wasn't right. Mac and Bonds were hall-of-fame bound pre-steroid. Sosa is the joke. Not only would he have been lucky to crack a ML lineup with his warning track power, but he lied to congress. At least Mac basically took the 5th and passed on directly answering the yeah or nay question and thus avoided the lies that Sosa spewed from his "non en'gles" understanding. Sosa is the fraud posterboy. What a chump. Anyone that doesn't believe Sosa was juicing is completely in denial of the obvious. I guess though since MLB doesn't have a rule against lieing to congress, then he gets a pass there too. What a joke.

I partially agree with gr8biggy. Anyone, including myself, that worked out regularly knew Mac was on more than Andro. Rosenthal should have given one of us a call 'cause "writing what I know" does not include "writing what I believe". A little research goes a long way Ken. As for gr8biggy... I agree on Mac, "we" gymrats knew. I actually made a comment to a friend of my mine that worked out and also happened to work in an office with me when the andro story broke. I told him "andro isn't the only thing he's taking, I guarantee it" and we both laughed and agreed and along with that both also agreed that is "stunk" using the more slang term. Where we part gr8biggy is how can you doubt Sosa was juicing? You've gotta be kidding? 60+ homers three straight years from a guy that had warming track power prior to his power years and warning track power after the steroid scandal hit the news? Huh? As bad as Mac was with the "in your face" abuse, in my book Sosa is the posterboy "joke" of the steroid era. First, he has never had his feet held to the fire. At least Mac didn't lie to congress, Sosa did. And Mac and Bonds both were arguably hall-of-fame bound pre-steroid, Sosa would have been lucky to have started in the majors. Sosa is a joke. I hope to God the writers, those that "write what they know"... and I hope you and your chums are listening Ken... don't give Sam a pass to the hall. No way should this fraud EVER smell Cooperstown. Don't vote for him Ken, don't do it!!! Look at pre-roid, 60+ homer years, and post 'roid photos of Sam and there is NO DOUBT the boy was on the needle. No doubt whatsoever. You are telling me that you honestly believe Sosa is a more prolific power hitter than Ruth and Aaron? Huh? Come on. One final thought. I've thought for a long time that while Mac was tearing down the record books that he deep in his gut had a respect for the game and that more than his bad knees was why he retired. Mac could have gone to the A.L. as a DH and possibly made a run at the Ruth record prior to Bonds doing so. I believe Mac began to internalize the fraud that he became and I believe he deeply regrets breaking Ruth's single season record in the manner in which he did it. I believe Mac loved the game of baseball and understood the history.
