Another tough game last night; we aren't that bad of a team right now.  We have to get younger though, we are going to finish under .500 this year with all of our veterans playing almost everyday.  I hate to say it, but I think it is time to start trading away players for young prospects.  I know if we do that the Astros won't be any good for a few years, though if ever one is patient and doesn't turn their backs on the team, then everything will be alright.

Bourn is the most underrated player in MLB today.  I hope upper management gives this guy whatever he wants to make him stay.  Hunter Pence is a good hitter but he is a little to streaky for me.  I think if Bud Norris stays consistent he has a real chance to be the staff ace in a few years.  He is a definite strike out machine for sure.

Fair weather fans say the team's a disgrace to our city. They could be better (and maybe McLaine will finally realize he needs to open up his pocketbook and get some younger talent), but they are not terrible. The team wasn't in much better straits in 2005, and we ALL know what happened then. (I personally think a redux of that is in order, and they need to fire Coop in spite of that contract - they did Gardner).

True fans have seen this team a lot worse and a lot better, but enjoyed the games all the same. That's why I get so bugged at comments like "They're a disgrace to our city." I have not seen that with the Rockets when they were bad, nor the Oilers (hell, we had fans who were supporting them the year after they moved to Tennessee - and finally realized how crass some of the management of that team was) nor the Aeros, who until recently have played average most of the time.

WHo knows how this season will end up - could be good, could be bad, but it will be interesting. I think some of it's mind games (such as their loss on April 23 where a guy who should've been called out, got the roof call reversed and scored that first run), and others is the hitting - which they need to realize that stuff happens, it's time to suck it up and play hard.

(Ike BTW was an exception - I would expect NO team - not even the Cubs an excellent team - to have played well if they were under the same conditions the Astros had to).

I don't agree that the Astros are a disgrace. Thier payroll is in the top 10 teams. But no matter how good or bad, we will watch....and that brings up another point. After watching a pre-season game with the Astros today, I had the same mixed feelings I always get. I love the Astros and appreciate seeing most of their games. However, to think about having to sit thru another season on senseless sidebars WHILE the game in in progress. I do not tune in to watch a sports TALKSHOW. I DO tune in to watch a game and not to listen to a lot of human interest stories which are never very interesting anyway. This is an insult to your listeners....let us watch the game and when we have an urge to listen to a sports talk show, we have lots of options. Have your directors and broadcasters listen to Vin Scully and learn how to broadcast a game, not turn it into a talk show. My cure is simple...everytime Jeanie or Janie or whoever starts to interview fans, I hit the mute button. Then you keep the camera on here while the game is going on. Stop it! Broadcast the game professionally.
