Anything before 1900 doesn't count! Records were poorly kept, so I/m sticking with "Teddy Ballgame". What I would of given to see what numbers hw would of put up if not for 4 1/2 years he devoted to his country. Trivia: Did you know that he was future astraunut/senator John Glens wingman?

During the Astros-Giants broadcast of May 17, a trivia question posed was: Who holds the major league record for consecutive times reaching base safely? The answer given (incorrectly) was Ted Williams. Williams reached based safely 16 consecutive times in 1957. The correct answer is 17 times by Fred Ward in 1893. Ward was an outfielder for Baltimore and Cincinnati. This record was recently uncovered by members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), and published in an article of the SABR "Baseball Rearch Journal". After Ward (17)and Williams (16), three players stand at 15 - Frank Thomas, Barry Bonds and John Olerud.
