The D-Backs have basically gone young with their bats and old with their pitchers. All that means is that once the hitters get good enough for the snakes, their pitching will be over the hill. There is no way they make the playoffs. And you can write this down; they won't make the playoffs in 6 or 7 years. They have no hope at a wild card because the NL East always gets the wild card, and they cannot have a better record than the Dodgers.

Now that the 2008 season is over for Arizona, I think that it's the right time to voice concerns.

Brandon Lyon needs to get far away from the 9th inning. If we had a "closer" this year, Brandon Webb would have won at least 24 games and Haren could have won 19 or 20. Randy Johnson had to endure another 2004-like year in which he was very good but his offense did nothing. The bullpen overall needs to be overhalled as well as the offense.

I honestly believe that if these problems are seriously adressed over the offseason, Brandon Webb will have an even better year as he continues to be in the prime of his career and will win 24 games and have an ERA under 3, Dan Haren will win 20 to 22 games and establish he and Webby as the new Johnson - Schilling punch, If johnson plays for the Dbacks in 2009 he will win a solid 15, could possibly have a shot at 5,000 K's(though that has nothing to do with the rest of the team), and for the first time since 2002, the Arizona Diamondbacks will have a complete Rotation-Bullpen-Offense-Defense combo that will lead them deep into the postseason.
