I think you've confused teams calling and asking for Rios and Ricciardi actually offering Rios.
The Phillies and Dodgers both wanted him. JP not giving him up is the reason no trade was made and Rios is still here.

Rios kicks ass! man, I can't believe he came ine second in the home run derby!!!!!!! We better sign him to a long term deal. Can you imagine we wanted to trade this guy!
