I know Beane most likely has a few more trades up his sleeve as part of the rebuilding process but who do you guys think will start for us this upcoming season? I think almost all of our veterans and younger guys (Blanton, Chavez, Ellis, Street, etc.) have a chance of being traded this offseason. Here is who I think should start for us considering Blanton and Chavez are traded (we need to go really young and Kotsay is too injury-prone and not part of our future):
Lineup
RF Travis Buck 1B Daric Barton LF Ryan Sweeney DH Jack Cust SS Bobby Crosby 2B Mark Ellis 3B Jack Hannahan CF Danny Putnam C Kurt Suzuki SP Chad Gaudin SP Rich Harden SP Justin Duchscherer SP Lenny DiNardo SP Dan Meyer CL Santiago Casilla
In order to develop our prospects especially the highly-rated ones we acquired through the Haren and Swisher trades, I think we need to play them during the season by either rotating or playing them for stretches. However, if someone blossoms and produces quickly, we let him play. I think OFs Sweeney and Putnam should start for us on Opening Day. If our starters face more injuries , then we replace them with our best prospects which will most likely come from our recent trades. Some of the prospects I would like to see play for us this season are LF Carlos Gonzalez and SPs Dana Eveland and Gio Gonzalez who are the most major-league ready. Eveland has had considerable big-league experience with the D-backs but has failed to transfer his great numbers to the majors from the minors. I think these players have a chance to be on the Opening Day active roster so it should be convenient to play them or we just call them up. If we don't face disaster this season we shouldn't have to play other prospects such as SPs Brett Anderson (Haren deal) and Fautino De Los Santos (Swisher deal) who need more time to develop in the minors. In order for success in the future, I think it is vital we play our major-league ready prospects so they develop. Although we will most likely be at the bottom of our division unless our young players totally explode on the scene, it should be fun to watch a bundle of new and young players who are our future. I think if Cisco Field is built as planned in 2011, our revenue should grow and we won't have to see so many stars leave the A's anymore. I think the people who criticize Beane and his decision to rebuild are not seeing how these moves are the best for our future. In the Haren and Swisher trades, we received 9 quality prospects although it didn't come cheap. If our prospects come through, I think the future is bright in Oaktown.
