I like the Twins, I even like to watch the Yankees. I strongly disagree that Mauer was the Twins team MVP. He is a very good catcher that hits for average. Everyone knows that Santana would be the MVP of the Twins, if the voters all included pitchers. Morneau's rise this season was what allowed the rest of the line up to succeed. Without him, Cuddy doesn't get pitched to like that and hunter doesn't get to bat with runners on base.
That said, I'm surprised the Thomas didn't get more love. He was the only true threat for the A's this year and he came through in flying colors. I just hope it wasn't a last hurrah for him.
Also I think that Jeter lost for a couple of reason's, one he is a Yankee and the rest of the line up, healthy or not, makes life easier than say if he played for the Royals. Another reason is that I have read a lot of voters giving backlash for the way he didn't handle A-Rod stuff. Is that fair, no! but either is the fact that you have a handfull of teams with salary costs four times the league average.

Living in Upstate N.Y., I'm tired of hearing all this garbage about Yankee injuries. The Yankees are on sportscenter every night, so everybody knows what Jeter has done. Rarely do they cover the Twins. Not one Yankee fan I've spoken to has a clue as to what Morneau did this year or who was injured for the Twins. Quit whining about who was missing from the $200M+ Yankee lineup. Stewart, Radke, Liriano, Hunter, Kubel all had significant injuries.

The Twins were unable to pick up Abreau and bench a bat like Giambi's down the stretch. Silva had an off year, and the Twins fourth and fifth starters were a merry-go-round - Baker, Garza, bullpen guys. The Yankees had Wang, Mussina, Johnson, for the bulk of the year. The Twins had to rely on Punto and Bartlett on the left side, and had a DH batting .220 in left field, and no real DH. The Yankess had All Star calibur guys at those positions.

I'm guessing the MVP voters might know more about the rest of the league than Yankees fans. Morneau, Mauer, Frank Thomas, Jermaine Dye, Santana all were more valuable than Jeter. Let him wash his own jock.
