MinorSox]It must be depressing to have to live in the past. Luckily, as a Red Sox fan, I don't have to. How many postseason embarrasments do you Yankees fans have to go through before you realize that your team is no longer elite. Over the past six seasons, the Yankees have lost the World Series twice, the ALCS once (2004, the most embarrasing collapse in baseball history) and the division series 3 times. Thats a whole lot of losing. The fans of any other team that had played so poorly under pressure would be smart enough to realize that they have nothing left to brag about.

that go that yanks are not go in the ALCS why did they have the best record
the tiger shoulde have had the best record
but i the tigers had the redsox playbook they cound have beat the wrote:

Losing Big Papi, Varitek, and Paps was a tremendous blow. And then for Manny to pull his bullsheet stunt didn't help. The only thing that is aggrevating about Manny and his situation is you know if it was anybody else pulling those stunts they would can him in a minute. Don't get me wrong i love Manny i think he is one of the best hitters in the game, When he wants to be. I just question his loyalty to the game sometimes. Sometimes it just seems to be all buisness to him like he doesn't care if they win or not as long as he gets paid. I am looking forward to a better season this season. GO SOX!!

When Ortiz went down, Manny quit. What was just as big a big a blow though was when Sucker Puncher Varitek went down. The Sox not only lost one of the best hitting catchers in the game, they lost thier team leader and game caller. In fairness to the Sox though, they did have multiply major injuries that seemed to happen in the 2nd half of the season including the best closer( last year) Paplebon, and to rookie Lester who got sick, etc. It is ironic though that after the sweep they lost their heart as a team. Why did the Sox fans jump on the media band wagon and say it was all over. They still could have made the wild card (especially if Manny didn't mysterious call out sick again).

Speaking of Lester, I hope he comes back super strong and wins at least in the high teens. He and DICE-K may be the new Schilling and Pedro. Looks like it will be fun again.

memoman]as goes pitching so goes the season

Not necessarily true. Look at the red sox last year- which do you think hurt more, no Manny or varitek, or no wakefield. A lack of hitting clearly doe wrote:

Thing is though, Yankees fans are the arrogant ones. Every time an argument comes up they always mention the 26 WS victories that haven't been added to since 2000. And the millenium started in 2001 not 2000, its a counting thing. Looking to the future, the Red Sox have the better team going into '07.
